 Maintaining your telephone nearby but not using it may give you a bump in perceived focus, inning accordance with new research.

The scientists found that individuals without their phones had more problem concentrating and more mind roaming compared with those that used their telephone. And those that needed to withstand using their telephone had greater perceived focus capcapacities compared to those that rested without their telephone.


"The unexpected finding for me was the decrease in focus problem when individuals needed to withstand" using the telephone, says Dave Markowitz, aide teacher in the Institution of Journalism and Interaction at the College of Oregon.


Markowitz has an interest in understanding the psychology of interaction habits, consisting of language patterns and how media affects social and physical processes. As component of his doctoral thesis at Stanford College, he developed a research study examining how topics reacted when working out self-discipline with their phones.
